Best Known For
Ace Hotel London is the first UK outpost of the Ace group, which currently has properties in New York, LA, Palm Springs, Seattle, Portland and Panama. Set within Shoreditch’s super-trendy neighbourhood, Ace Hotel is undoubtedly the hippest spot in the hood currently.
The Good Stuff
If there were one word to describe this hotel it would be retro. The unique blend of 60’s and 70’s style furniture, set amongst the chic pale wood paneling has a youthful feel to it. We are big fans of the quirky bedrooms, which are a good size and include cute patchwork quilts and interesting storage items such as metal and plastic crate chest of draws. Very Seattle chic. The hotel is all about ‘curation’ and ‘concept’. They have chosen ‘locally sourced’ partners that you can see throughout the lobby store, exhibition gallery, on-site juice bar and a flower shop.
The Vibe
The hotel is a true hipster paradise full of bohemian edge. It draws the hot, young, fashionista crowd from across the city.
Inside the hotel – 9/10
The design at Ace Hotel London Shoreditch hints at a wide range of influences from bold graphics to US punk rock and 90’s style. It also offers the clean Modernism of the Bauhaus era throughout. The hotel is a hive of activity from the lobby lounge through to destination restaurant, named Hoi Polloi, by David Waddington and Pablo Flack. There is also a fabulous roof terrace due to open this month, as well as the fab basement bar – Miranda, which has already become popular for partying!
Outside the hotel – 7/10
Who would have thought you could turn an otherwise dull, office block looking building, into one of the hottest hotels in the city. However, as it is nestled within a hub of galleries, theatres and fashion, don’t let the exterior put you off. It is also within easy access to Moorgate, Finsbury Square and Liverpool Street too.
